You can clone!
Cloning is really a very simple process. As with all growing, you will need the right information and correct equipment to get it done with a high rate of success.
Here is what you need:
-
Cloning gel, powder, or honey.
-
Dome to keep humidity in (cloning tray kit with dome, 2 liter bottle with the bottom cut off and cap screwed off, etc.).
-
Cloning medium like rockwool, coco coir, etc.
-
Cutting from your plant.
-
Cloning tray (or something to keep the clone in, like a solo cup, Tupperware bottom, etc.).
Here is the process:
-
Optimal temperatures and humidity for cloning are between 75 to 80 degrees and 75% and 85% humidity.
-
Select your medium of choice for the clone (either rockwool, coco coir, etc.) and thoroughly moisten it. Place this in your cloning tray or area you will use for the clones that maintains nearly 100% humidity and a warm 72-78 degree constant temperature.
* Many garden supply stores sell cloning trays with domes already made for this. However, in a pinch, you can use the top of a 2 liter plastic soda bottle with the lid uncapped and a few additional small holes punctured into it.
-
Select a branch of a vegetating plant(not flowering- which means not showing bud development at all) that is between 4 and 6 inches in length.
-
Find a spot within the 4 to 6 inches directly above a node and cut the branch off with a 45 degree angle cut.
-
Remove all developing (small) leaves / vegetation from the bottom 2 inches of the cutting.
-
Lightly coat the open part of the cut (the stem) in cloning gel or powder (Less is more! More is not better!).
-
Place the cutting into your already moistened medium, either rockwool or coco coir or any other medium typically used for cloning, and cover with a clear dome with sufficient ventilation holes.
-
Place this under a low or medium intensity light for a minimum 18 hours per day and open the dome daily, shaking out the excess sweat along the side of the dome and making sure that your medium is moist with fresh water.
-
In about 10 to 14 days, you will be able to see small, white roots sticking out of your cloning medium.
-
Once you see the roots sticking out, you are ready to transplant into your growing medium of choice (soil or hydro).
At this point, it you are now ready to proceed to your Indoor Grow or Outdoor Grow instructions.
